Laura Kelly, a third year PhD student funded through the Climate Justice Fund Water Futures Programme, has published her second journal paper. It is currently available online through open access. The paper has been published in the American Journal of Water Science and Engineering and the full paper can be downloaded from here.
The paper, titled ‘Characterization of Groundwater Discharge to Rivers in the Shire River Basin, Malawi’, characterizes groundwater discharge to rivers in the Shire River Basin and highlights the important role that groundwater plays in these rivers. The paper is co-authored by Prof. Robert Kalin (Director, Climate Justice Fund Water Futures Programme, and Professor of Environmental Engineering for Sustainability), Dr. Doug Bertram (Associate Director: Engineering Online Centre & Senior Knowledge Exchange Fellow) at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, and Prof. Cosmo Ngongondo (Professor, Department of Geography and Earth Sciences) at the University of Malawi, Chancellor College, Malawi.
This is the second of a series of planned papers for Laura’s PhD. It is hoped that her research will assist Malawi to better understand and manage their water resources.
