The Personal Assistant to the Malawi Minister for Agriculture, Irrigation and Water Development visi
On 23 April 2018, the Climate Justice Programme hosted Precious Chikaoneka for an afternoon workshop at the University of Strathclyde. Precious is the Personal Assistant to the Minister for Agriculture, Irrigation and Water Development and oversees all of the proposals that come across the Minister’s desk. Many CJF staff members and PhD students, including two delegates attending the workshop from SEPA, gave presentations on their work and Precious engaged in fruitful discussions following each presentation. Details of the CJF borehole forensics programme were of particular interest to our visitor, as was the new Management Information System (MIS) called mWater that the programme has customised to map and analyse huge volumes of water point data. It is hoped this meeting will increase the visibility of the CJF Programme to the Minister and high-level backing from Malawian officials will continue to support the Programme’s many activities.
